Residual Tension I marks the beginning of a series of paintings that explore what remains after an intense gesture. Rather than focusing on the movement itself, the work centers on the tension that lingers on the surface afterwards.
A compact horizontal form in Prussian blue rests low on the canvas, carrying the weight of a single, decisive gesture. The surrounding space is intentionally left open and quiet, allowing the form to exist without visual noise.
Subtle textures in the lower area retain traces of friction and material. The work moves between presence and absence, where energy no longer erupts but continues to resonate as a restrained tension.
