Residual Tension IX compresses the series into a dense and unstable presence. Unlike earlier works that unfold through movement across the surface, the tension here becomes concentrated into a confined area, as if the gesture no longer finds enough space to fully expand.
Layers of deep Prussian blue accumulate, fracture, and partially dissolve into the surrounding white field. Subtle traces and eroded marks remain visible beneath the surface, suggesting pressure that continues to build internally rather than release outward. The work balances between containment and collapse, where density and fragility coexist within the same compressed form.
The surrounding space remains intentionally exposed, allowing absence and silence to heighten the psychological weight of the painting.
